Alessi Likes Black Skirts and Metal Toe Caps

This is what I wore to eat an overflowing tub of frozen yogurt with my friend Marese at the launch of Golden Spoon’s Weightless Pricing service. The swishy black skirt was ideal for concealing my dangerously expanding, yogurt-filled girth. The shoes I got for 200 PHP from a (literal) sidewalk vendor in our neighborhood. How lovely metal toe-caps like these ended up with a sidewalk vendor, we’ll never know.

Alessi Likes Sunshine

I admit to picking rainy days over sunny ones my entire life, but monsoon week had me better appreciating the stinging burn of live sunlight on my skin and the heavy, almost damp high noon air. The overcast weather the day after monsoon week was a wonderful paradox of crisp cold and brisk heat, with sunlight filtering through stratified clouds; maybe that’s how spring feels.

I’ll always love rainy days, but sunny days are starting to look inviting. So inviting in fact, that I took my slutty short shorts out on the only time during the weekend that the sun came out. Wore it with some crappy outdated rugby shirt.

Alessi Really Likes Sweater Weather

Well here’s nothing you haven’t seen on my Instagram (alessilikesit). I’m taking advantage of the monsoon season and am piling up as many layers as possible and looking for any occasion to get dressed in; sweater weather is a golden opportunity in this tropical country. Everything I’m wearing is ratty and thrifted, and well-loved. Between crazy PMS binge eating, a new job, an internship that happened but didn’t, watching the Olympics on TV, and my busy schedule of scouting for food photos to pin on Pinterest, life is getting pretty exciting.

I should remember to drink it all in, write as much as I can. I’m still pretty young, there’s so much more to do.

Soooo I really can’t get myself to talk much about fashion and style here cause I think it’s so embarrassing, I think something like fashion shouldn’t be justified by words, but what you actually have on. Personally, I think my personal style is baduy *Hahaha!* I like wearing my mom’s 80’s high-waist shorts and thrift shopping with Wednesday, which explains why most of my clothes look outdated. -__-

Moreover, I admire people who can carry outdated and unattractive clothes and make these look very good on them. It’s that quality of turning something most people would find hideous into something your own which attracts me the most about baduy clothes.

For instance, I bet you wouldn’t want shit to do with these high-waist pyjamas:

but it just looks so good on them! It comes off totally effortless and simple, not even that much accessories. More shit you’d find in your lola’s baul:

So cool. More lazy, simple, understated, effortless dressing. I think

people should stop over-accessorizing. Less is fucking more!

I also like a trendy shit, like color blocking. Looks so effing crafty!

I think this is a perfect example of what Cheesie calls MODE style, cause she says it looks expensive haha! I wish I could layer on piles and piles of clothes for everyday wear. Stupid Philippine climate, so effing warm. These coats look so fresh.

I also love shift dresses in solid colors:

And blazers, perfect cheat for lazy dressing. They make everything look sharp and awesome.

all photos from the super awesome http://vanessajackman.blogspot.com/ Awesomesauce streetstyle blog okay.

I am officially a hypocrite. I wrote an entire blog post about fashion after saying I don’t like talking about fashion -__-
